Beef and Vegetable Casserole with Dumplings

If it's a wholesome British classic that you fancy, then look no further!

Ingredients
  • 225g stewing beef (shin/shoulder/chuck)
  • 30g flour
  • 10ml cooking oil
  • 1/2 small onions, sliced
  • 137.5ml beef stock
  • 1/2 carrot, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste


For the dumplings:

  • 12.5g self-raising flour
  • 0.5g salt
  • 6g shredded suet
  • 2.5g chopped parsley
  • 12ml cold water

Method

  1. Cut the meat in cubes and toss in seasoned flour
  2. Press the SAUTÉ button and heat the oil in the bowl
  3. Brown the meat, then add the onions and sauté
  4. Stir in the remaining flour, gradually adding the stock and carrots
  5. Press the KEEP WARM/CANCEL button
  6. Press the PASTA button and bring to the boil
  7. Press the KEEP WARM/CANCEL button
  8. Press the SLOW COOK button and cook for 8 hours
  9. Make the dumplings by mixing flour, salt, suet and parsley
  10. Add water and mix to a soft dough
  11. Shape into 4 balls and add to the bowl 45 minutes before the end of cooking
