Boiled Bacon in Apple Juice

A tasty and traditional Irish dinner.

Ingredients
  • 250g collar of bacon
  • 137.5ml apple juice
  • 1/2 small onion, sliced
  • 7.5g cornflour
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Method

  1. Put the bacon in the bowl, cover with cold water, press the PASTA button and bring to the boil
  2. Discard the water, then put the apple juice and onion in the bowl
  3. Press the PASTA button and bring to the boil
  4. Add pepper, then press the KEEP WARM/CANCEL button
  5. Press the SLOW COOK button and cook for 4-5 hours
  6. Remove the bacon to a serving dish and keep hot
  7. Put the cornflour in a small pan and blend with a little cold water
  8. Gradually stir in the apple juice
  9. Bring to the boil and simmer for 2 minutes
  10. Serve with the bacon
