The Perfect Coffee Granita

Ingredients
  • 600ml strong black coffee
  • 75ml hazelnut syrup
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 25g icing sugar
  • 100g double cream
  • Cocoa powder

Method 

  1. Fill the reservoir of the coffee maker with the exact amount of water required
  2. Fill the mill of the coffee maker with coffee beans
  3. Define the beans' coarseness
  4. Set the number of cups you want (2 to 10 cups)
  5. Select the strength of your coffee
  6. Use a pre chilled 1 litre shallow plastic container from the freezer
  7. Stir the coffee, syrup and sugar together in a jug
  8. Pour the cooled coffee into the plastic container and freeze for 30 minutes
  9. Using a fork, stir any ice crystals into the centre and return to the freezer
  10. Repeat every half hour until all the liquid has frozen
  11. Whip the cream and icing sugar to soft peaks
  12. Spoon into chilled serving glasses and add the whipped cream
  13. Finish the granita by dusting it with cocoa powder
