The Ultimate Chocolate Cake

Calling all Chocoholics! Indulge yourself and try baking a scrumptious heavenly chocolate cake with the Desire Kitchen Machine from Russell Hobbs. With a 4.5L Stainless Steel Bowl and three different attachments, it couldn't be easier!

Ingredients
  • 200g plain flour
  • 200g casting sugar
  • 10ml baking powder
  • 40g cocoa powder
  • 325g softened butter
  • 150g crème fraiche
  • 5ml ground cinnamon
  • 100g 70% dark chocolate
  • 125g cream cheese
  • 175g icing sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 chocolate flake

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C
  2. Grease and line the base of two 20cm round cake tins
  3. Place the caster sugar, plain flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, ground cinnamon, crème fraiche and egg into a bowl and mix using the Russell Hobbs Desire Kitchen Machine.
  4. Divide the cake mix between the two prepared cake tins and bake in the oven for 25 minutes until firm
  5. Remove the cakes from the tins and leave to cool
  6. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of simmering water, then leave to cool but still liquid
  7. Place butter into the bowl, beat until smooth then beat in the cream cheese
  8. Slowly add the icing sugar with the Desire Kichen Machine on a low speed. Then finally beat in the melted chocolate
  9. Spread a little of the icing on the top of one cake, then top it with the remaining cake. Spread the remaining icing over the top and sides of the cake
  10. Sprinkle the chocolate flake over the top of the cake to finish
