Bolognese Sauce

Bolognese Sauce

Traditional and packed full of flavour. You can't go wrong with an Italian classic!

Ingredients
  • 10ml cooking oil
  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 clove garlic, crushed
  • 175g minced beef
  • 100g tinned chopped tomatoes + juice
  • 50g tomato purée
  • 100ml beef stock
  • 30g button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2.5g dried basil
  • 1/2 bay leaf
  • Bouquet garni [note that the 1/2 has been removed]
  • 7.5g dried mixed peppers

Method

  1. Press the SAUTÉ button and heat the oil in the bowl
  2. Fry the onion and garlic lightly
  3. Add the beef, and fry until brown
  4. Stir in the other ingredients, then press the KEEP WARM/CANCEL button
  5. Press the PASTA button and bring to the boil
  6. Press the KEEP WARM/CANCEL button
  7. Press the SLOW COOK button and cook for 8 hours
  8. Remove the bay leaf and bouquet garni
  9. Serve with spaghetti or noodles, and grated parmesan
