Onion Bhajis

These easy-to-prepare onion bhajis are the perfect addition to any party.

  • 2 red onions
  • 1 green chilli, finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely diced
  • 8g ginger, finely diced
  • 15g butter, melted
  • 45g rice flour, sieved
  • 80g gram flour, sieved
  • ½ bunch fresh coriander
  • 20 fennel seeds, roasted
  • 1g chilli powder
  • 1g turmeric
  • Salt

Method (Makes 6 approx.)

  1. Spiralize the onion with the Spiral slice blade.
  2. Mix together the onion, garlic, chilli, butter and ginger in a bowl. Add the flours, fennel seeds, chilli powder, turmeric and salt and mix well.
  3. Divide the mix into equal size balls.
  4. Heat a fryer to 170ºC and fry the bhaji until golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper, season and serve.

Tom’s Tip: These are great served as a starter, a snack or as part of an Indian banquet.
