Rich Tomato Sauce

A versatile tomato sauce, perfect for meatballs or pasta dishes

Ingredients
  • 30ml olive oil
  • 1 onion, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 2 x 400g tins plum tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp sun dried tomato paste or tomato purée
  • 2 tsp sherry vinegar or red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp caster sugar
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 bunch basil, leaves roughly chopped (optional)

Method (Serves 4)

  1. Put the oil, onion and garlic into the jug, press the boil/steam button and cook for 3 minutes.
  2. Press and release the pulse button to shake things up a bit then add the tomatoes, tomato paste, sherry vinegar and sugar.
  3. Season with salt and pepper then press the sauce button.
  4. Once the sauce has been cooked and blended stir through the chopped basil and serve.
